Killing an Animal is Unnecessary and Unkind
According to Encyclopedia.com (2008), “Wildlife are animals that have not been domesticated by humans” (chapter 3). Human interference still plays a large role in wild animals’ lives. Some people may consider ferrets to be exotic and even wild pets, however, opponents to that would argue that ferrets are harmless and have become domesticated to be sold in pet stores as amazing pets. Of course, there are most likely wild ferrets, but this is also true of cats and even dogs. Any animal can become wild or feral if the conditions apply. Some animals should never be domesticated or kept as pets, however, ferrets are not one of them. Similar to Atlanta squirrel removal, hiring a wildlife removal company that performs humane animal removal is the best way to go, instead of harming the animal and oneself.
Black-footed ferrets almost met extinction with only eighteen of them in the wild. “Collaborative efforts among state and federal agencies, conservation organizations, Native American tribes, and private landowners have helped restore nearly 500 black-footed ferrets in the wild” (Cattelino, 2015).
These types of ferrets belong in the wild; they should not be domesticated to be house pets. They are not bred for that. It is important for their population to survive that they remain in the wild. Efforts need to continue to support the population growth of this species so that it does not become a thing of the past. For now, one of the original species on the endangered document list in 1967 continues to thrive in the wild with the help of people across the country dedicated to helping this the black-footed ferrets.
“Bats make up a quarter of all mammal species on earth” (www.defenders.org/, 2015). There are thousands of different species of bats in the entire world. Seventy percent of bats consume insects; that is over half. This shows that bats play an incredible role in pest control. Some bats are carnivorous while others eat fruit or nectar. You can find bats all over the world except for in extreme desert areas or polar regions. According to www.defenders.org (2015), “Some species are solitary while others form colonies of more than a million individuals.”
During the winter months, bats will do one of several different things. They will either migrate, hibernate, or go into torpor. Female bats help each other to raise their young while males are uninvolved with raising them at all. The gestational period for bats is typically six months.
Raccoons are very intelligent animals. They are all over North America in suburban and urban areas. They have learned to adapt, live, and thrive in urban areas because that is what their environment is being turned into. Raccoons tend to prefer wooded areas, but will set up a den in an attic. Raccoons are nocturnal by nature and are most active at night.
The reproduction process begins in late winter and females usually give birth to one to six baby kits in April or May. Raccoons are not fully ready to care for themselves until 12-14 months of age. The communication skills between raccoons are impeccable with 200 different sounds and 12-15 different calls. Raccoons have a number of different skills, some of which could lead to possible destruction. They are extremely intelligent and are also protected in many states.
